If you’re a dessert lover in Bristol, Chill Tea is worth a look. We visited this cozy dessert café recently for an indulgent afternoon treat and came away with a memorable experience filled with vibrant flavours, colourful presentation, and a relaxing atmosphere, all served with a modern pan-Asian twist.

First Impressions
Bright, minimalist, and inviting — Chill Tea blends modern café vibes with touches of East Asian flair. A shokuhin sampuru (Japanese food replica) display in the front window shows off their iconic Japanese souffle pancakes and bubble tea options, making it clear that this place takes its desserts seriously. The air-conditioned space is fitted with long bench seats and plenty of natural light, a perfect spot to catch up with friends or relax solo over a sweet treat. There is even board games, inviting you to stay longer if you wish.

What We Ordered
We were here mainly for desserts and bubble tea, and we dove right in:
Chill Special Bubble Milk Tea (Large): While the tapioca pearls were perfectly chewy and fresh, we found the black tea base to be a little too mild for our taste. Still, it was refreshing and satisfying.
Bingsu (빙수): Korean-style shaved ice desserts were the real stars of our visit.
Mango Bingsu: A vibrant and juicy treat. Topped with mango ice cream and crisp wafers, it came served on a golden plate with charming shovel-shaped spoons. The mango pieces were sweet and ripe, with extra mango syrup over snowy ice. Condensed milk on the side gave us the option to tailor the creaminess — a lovely touch.
Matcha Bingsu: This one impressed with its rich, earthy flavour. Fine matcha powder and green tea syrup were layered over soft, shaved ice, topped with a generous scoop of matcha ice cream. On the side, a pot of red beans and condensed milk added texture and contrast to the mildly bitter and sweet profile.
The Bingsu menu also includes chocolate and strawberry varieties. We caught a glimpse of the Strawberry Bingsu ordered at the next table — tall, fresh, and luscious and have already made a mental note to try it next time.
Tempted by More…
Although we didn’t get to try the Japanese Souffle Pancakes this time, their reputation precedes them. Available in flavours like Strawberry Cream, Brown Sugar Cheese, Matcha Red Bean, and Mango, these airy, fluffy pancakes are presented beautifully and promise to melt in your mouth.

We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that Chill Tea shares ownership with Nice Spice, a Hong Kong Chinese restaurant next door. Diners can place orders at Nice Spice and have food delivered straight to Chill Tea in takeaway packaging, an ideal setup if the restaurant is full or you’re looking for a casual setting with desserts and drinks.
Naturally, we couldn’t resist…
Three Roast Rice from Nice Spice: A hearty favourite featuring crispy pork belly, roast duck, and char siew pork over rice with lettuce. Served in a takeaway box, it was still flavorful and generously portioned. Perfect to share and paired well with our desserts.
Service & Space
The ordering process was quick and easy: choose a table, order at the counter, and your food and drinks will be brought over. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shared toilet (with Nice Spice) is kept clean and functional, though you may occasionally see customers pop in just to use the facilities.
Bonus points: Chill Tea offers free Wi-Fi and board games, making it an ideal hangout space for students, digital nomads, and bubble tea fanatics alike.
Our Experience
Chill Tea delivers more than just dessert — it’s a multi-layered experience that blends Korean, Japanese and Chinese influences into an accessible and family-friendly setting. Despite a small hiccup with the milk tea strength, everything else—from the gorgeous Bingsu to the seamless crossover with Nice Spice—made this a place we’d happily return to.
Must Try: Bingsu (especially Mango or Matcha), Japanese Souffle Pancakes, and the Three Roast Rice from next door.
