Right in the heart of Bath, overlooking the Pulteney Bridge and Weir is Cappadocia Turkish (Mediterranean) Restaurant. It has undergone a stunning transformation. Once a modest establishment with a takeaway counter on one side and a small dining area on the other, it has since been fully renovated into an upscale, dine-in-only restaurant. Plush seating, bold interior design, floor-to-ceiling statement wallpaper, and a fully stocked bar now welcome guests to a vibrant and memorable dining experience.
We’ve been here many times before its revamp, but this visit felt entirely new. Our party of 16 booked ahead and were seated upstairs in a beautifully designed private dining room, complete with its own bar and a dumbwaiter delivering food directly from the kitchen—adding a touch of theatre to the evening.
The Shared Feast Begins
To kick off the meal, we opted for a selection of starters to share between us on our table. These are the bigger platter for two. The Hot Meze Platter came with favourites like:
- Calamari: perfectly panko-fried squid with a tangy tartar sauce
- Falafel: deep-fried chickpea balls served with creamy hummus
- Grilled Halloumi: salty and golden brown
- Sucuk: spicy pan-fried Turkish sausage
- Pacanga: crispy filo rolls stuffed with mozzarella and Turkish pastrami
- Muska Borek: triangular pastries filled with cheese and herbs
Complementing this was the Cold Meze Platter, a vibrant mix of:
- Tabouleh: fresh parsley, red pepper and micro-bulgur in a citrusy pomegranate dressing
- Hummus and Cacik: rich and creamy staples
- Shakshuka: warm, comforting aubergine, red pepper, and potato in a tomato-garlic sauce
- Baba Ghanoush: smoky aubergine with tahini and garlic yogurt
- Dolma: tender grape leaves stuffed with herbed rice
The mixed leaf salad dressed with olive oil and pomegranate added freshness and colour to the starters.
Grilled Meats and Slow-Cooked Favourites
For mains, we shared several of their standout dishes, including:
- Mixed Grill Kebab: A carnivore’s dream with lamb chop, lamb shish, chicken shish, adana kofte, and chicken wings grilled to perfection over charcoal
- Chicken Wings: marinated, flame-grilled and tender
- Chicken Shish: juicy cubes of charcoaled chicken breast
- Lamb Sautée: rich and hearty lamb pieces sautéed with peppers and tomato, served with buttery rice
- İncik (Lamb Shank): melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked lamb with carrots and potatoes on a bed of steamed rice
The generous portions made it easy to share, and the flavours were consistently bold and authentic.
The Experience
Cappadocia isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience. The ambiance is warm and lively, the service attentive and friendly, and the décor feels both luxurious and welcoming. The private dining room elevated the occasion, making it ideal for group celebrations or special events.
Run as a family business, there’s a real sense of hospitality and pride in what they serve. From the sizzling grilled meats to the cooling mezze, every dish arrives with care and flavour. The cocktails and drinks selection at the bar adds an extra dimension to the experience—fresh, colourful, and well balanced.
Dining at Cappadocia Turkish Mediterranean Restaurant in Bath is a feast for all the senses. It’s an ideal spot whether you’re looking to host a special gathering, enjoy a romantic night out, or simply indulge in rich and flavourful Mediterranean cuisine. We’ve seen the restaurant evolve over the years, and its transformation is remarkable.
If you’re in Bath and craving authentic Turkish food in a stunning setting, Cappadocia should be at the top of your list. Be mindful though that cost-wise it is at the upper end of the dining out scale.
